Arriving in Mostar before 8am, making the most of the early morning peace and quiet...

...the cruise ship tours arrive at 10am, apparently...

Ottoman architecture, Mostar

Reminders of the old days. Mostar was besieged twice between 1992 and 1994, and was "the most heavily destroyed city in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

The Stari Most: built in 1556 by the Ottomans, hit by 50 Croat shells and destroyed on November 9th, 1993, and rebuilt stone-by-stone between 2001 and 2004.
